The Ambassador hotel building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. A Part 2 with conditions has been approved for the Ambassador Hotel.

The property is located in the Downtown Jacksonville National Register Historic District near City Hall and the federal and County Courthouse complexes. The now vacant Ambassador Hotel, originally known as the 310 West Church Street Apartments, is a six-story former residential building and hotel designed in the Beaux-arts eclectic manner. It is constructed of reinforced concrete with a cast stone and English bond brick exterior and occupies the northeast corner of block 50 in downtown Jacksonville, Florida, bounded by Duval (south), North Pearl (west), West Church (north) and Julia (east) Streets.

The remainder of the block will be developed for the apartments and parking garage.
